The Light Bulb Moment
We have all heard that phrase and most of us will have experienced the ‘moment.’ It could have been something as simple as mathematics suddenly making sense, (still waiting for that one), or the reasons for your child’s strange behaviour?! Whatever it was we remember it because it changed things.
When it comes to changing our lifestyles, exercise is often the first thing we consider because most of us don’t do enough of it. The light bulb here often only comes on once an activity has been started and the benefits enjoyed. Other times we need someone else to lead us to the light.
Some people just wake up one day and say “enough” and from that moment on they change their lives by sheer determination.
Programmes are made about such people, often bullied, overweight and lonely who now live happy fulfilled lives and have only themselves to thank. The emotions felt by viewers is varied, inspired, envious, amazed, but most importantly, interested. This interest means that people talk about it and spread the news. IT IS POSSIBLE, you CAN change your life, all by yourself no matter how many bulbs have blown in the past!
Recently I have read copious amounts of information relating to exercise on the following topics:
The best time to exercise
The best type of exercise
The best value blah, blah, blah
They all had something in common. The words ‘it can, might, should, usually, possibly….in other words we are not really sure!
You won’t need a light bulb moment to know that the best time to exercise is when you are ready, the best type is one you enjoy the most and as for value, you will get out what you put in no matter how much you have paid.
I won’t be reading so much anymore, I will be doing and I hope that some of you will do it too!
Understanding Persistent Pain will be my next blog just as soon as I understand it.
